"Amateur Nite" in Langham, Saskatchewan

Henrietta school band is seen performing. Play the two guitars are brother and sister team, Marilyn and Allan Verishine. The accordianist is Keith Tarasoff. Verna Antifave and Donna Tarasoff are playing the flute and Mary Antifave (extreme right) if playing the tonette. The mouth organ is being played by Jim Eddie (the only non-Doukhobor in the band).

Scenes in nightclub with jazz band; trick shot of man "sucking in" smoke rings. Dorothy, Oscar Burritt and others swimming; Dorothy taking photos. Colour: brief shots of Oscar posing with unidentified man and woman in front of a sightseeing bus [Kodachrome, edge code 1938].

Hayne's Band, Victoria

The item is a poor quality photographic reproduction on paper, probably cut from a magazine around 1940. It is of the Victoria Volunteer Rifle Corps Band (established 1864) at Clover Point in Victoria. William Haynes (former Royal Engineer) was the first bandmaster. The band later became the 5th (BC) Field Regiment Band. The original photograph was probably taken by Frederick Dally on August 4, 1866, as noted in the British Colonist newspaper on August 4, 1866.

Indian days

The item is a composite print of a travelogue from ca. 1961. The film shows the celebration of Indian Days at Kamloops. Includes the opening parade (with various First Nations bands), dancing and rodeo events.
