Biographical history

Isabel Marie Leonie Bescoby was born in Vancouver, BC on March 18th, 1913. She died at age 56 in Sidney, BC on November 3, 1969.

Bescoby received an M.A. from the University of B.C. She joined the B.C. Department of Education as Director of the Elementary Correspondence School. In 1937, Bescoby became principal of the Provincial Model School in Victoria and remained in that position until World War II, when she joined the Unemployment Insurance Commission and National Employment Service. In 1950, she moved to Vancouver and became regional supervisor of staff training for the federal government, before moving to Ottawa as Chief of the Training Division of the Civil Service Commission.
