The item consists of an audio off-air recording made in 1966 of the proceedings of Proclamation Day ceremony at Victoria Memorial Arena, in commemoration of the union of the crown colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia. dignitaries present include Lieutenant-Governor George Pearkes; Sir Robert Bellinger, Lord Mayor of London; Victoria civic officials; plus representatives of ethnic groups and Indian bands. Proceedings include procession hymn, music by the Salvation Army band, speeches. Track 2 contains choir music, possibly unrelated.
It also contains an off-air recording of Chief Dan George delivering his "Lament for Confederation" at Empire Stadium, Vancouver, July 1, 1967.
