This series contains copies of British Columbia Executive Council minutes from 10 January 1865 to 7 July 1871.

This series contains original correspondence (C.O.60/1 - C.O. 60/44), consisting of despatches (despatches from the Governor of British Columbia to the Colonial Secretary, correspondence and minutes arising from the despatches, and draft despatches from the Colonial Secretary) as well as miscellaneous letters to the Colonial Secretary from other departments of the British Government and from individuals on matters relating to British Columbia. Reel 1453 contains some pages which were not filmed at the time of the original filming.

This document, known as the Douglas Commission, appointed James Douglas as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the newly created Colony of British Columbia. Issued in September 1858, the document consists of three large parchment pages attached to the Great Seal of Queen Victoria.

The series consists of a copy of Jeanie Lucinda's diary including an account of her marriage to Colony of British Columbia Governor Anthony Musgrave, in San Francisco in June and her return to the colony.

This series contains minutes of Executive Council meetings, Colony of Vancouver Island. The series contains 2 volumes each of which cover the periods 26 March 1864 - 27 June 1865 and 18 July 1865 - 19 November 1866.

Series consists of a diary, 1868; correspondence, 1898-1910, with R. Gosnell, E.O.S. Scholefield and R. Mohun; oaths of office; printed vita to accompany application to be appointed Governor of British Columbia, 1869; notes and drafts on history of British Columbia, history of Alaska boundary dispute; memos on Kootenay district and immigration; miscellaneous notes and clippings.

The item is a photocopy of a thesis by Kent Maclean Haworth titled "Governor Anthony Musgrave, Confederation, and the Challenge of Responsible Government." Thesis (M.A.) - University of Victoria, 1975.

Series consists of instructions (1864) and Additional Instructions to Governor Seymour of the colony of British Columbia.
