The Ministry of Economic Development, Small Business and Trade was established on 5 November, 1991 when functions other than tourism were transferred from the Ministry of Development, Trade and Tourism (OIC 1991-1272). The ministry was disestablished in 1993 (OIC 1993-1210). Functions were transferred to the newly established Ministry of Small Business, Tourism and Culture, and Ministry of Employment and Investment (OIC 1993-1211).
