History

This committee, initially known as the Special Advisory Committee on Wilderness (also known as Wilderness Advisory Committee, or WAC), was appointed on 18 October 1985 by Environment Minister, Austin Pelton. The Chairman was Bryan Williams. The committee's goal was to review land use issues in B.C.; specifically, to examine the conflict between preservation and development of wilderness areas and parks. 16 areas and 8 park boundaries were studied including the southern part of Moresby Island, the Stein River valley and the Stikine River.

The final report was submitted March 7, 1986.
