Scope and content

Series consists of colour photographs created by the Captain Cook Bi-centennial Committee in 1978. Accession 198405-008 consists of two large mats, each with two identical colour photographs mounted back to back. One is of Minister Grace McCarthy and an actor dressed as Captain Cook on the deck of a ship. The other is an aerial view of Friendly Cove in Nooktka Sound. These matted prints were probably hung on display, one side of each is badly faded due to exposure to light. Series also includes accession 198006-012 which consists of four colour prints. There are two images (with one duplicate copy) of the Captain Cook statue at the Victoria Harbour causeway. The other image is an aerial view of Friendly Cove. This image was used for the cover of the pamphlet Captain Cook Bi-centennial, published by the Government of British Columbia in 1978.
