Biographical history

Commissioner: Mr. Justice M. A. Macdonald, of the Court of Appeal. Appointed November 28, 1934; reports dated October 21, 1936; September 27, 1937; December 5, 1938. The commissioner was appointed to inquire into matters connected with the coal and petroleum industries. A recommendation of the commission led to the creation in 1937 of the Coal and Petroleum Control Board. The mandate of that board was to regulate and control the coal and petroleum industries through licensing and to gather and report statistics on the marketing of coal and petroleum products.

This series consists of records of the Coal and Petroleum Commission, 1934-1938. Records include exhibits, transcripts of proceedings, secretary's notebook of proceedings, working papers and report. Some exhibits filed separately.
