Administrative history
The Cranbrook Board of Commissioners of Police was established in 1907 under the Municipal Clauses Act (SBC 1906, c. 32). The municipality of Cranbrook was incorporated as a municipality in 1905. The board of commissioners of police consisted of the reeve of the municipality and two persons who were elected annually, at the same time and in the same manner as the reeve and councilors. Members of the police force were appointed by the board. The board was responsible for making regulations for the governance of the police force and all meetings of the board were open to the press and the public.
Custodial history
Transferred to the BC Archives in 1986 by the R.C.M.P, "E" Division, Vancouver, after records were transferred to them by the R.C.M.P., Cranbrook.
