Biographical history
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Dorothy Livesay became a prominent Canadian poet and author, publishing many volumes of poetry as well as critical articles and reviews. She received the Governor-General's Award for Poetry in 1944 and 1947. Livesay taught at the University of Alberta (1968-1971) and at the University of Victoria (1971-1974).
