Scope and content

The item is a documentary made by the CBC around 1980. Canada requires 1.8 million barrels of oil each day. To reduce its dependency on Middle East oil reserves, there is a goal to become energy self-sufficient in 10 years. Also discusses the Tar Sands reserves, and the threat to world peace over the oil supply. British Columbia's forest industry contributes to the fact that it is the most energy-wasteful province. Use of hog fuel (wood waste). Includes interviews with Alberta premier Peter Lougheed, Imperial Oil president Jim Livingstone, and economist John Heliwell.
