News item. Cedric Steele says there would be three round-trip jetfoil runs per day, each carrying up to 250 passengers between Victoria and Seattle. Meeting with Boeing today to discuss six-month lease, probably starting May 1. The cost each way will be 20-25 dollars per person. But there will be no individual profits made fom this venture; instead, the money will be entirely used to upgrade the jetfoil.

News item. Company preseident Frank Mitchell has just announced that the BC government has decided to take the "Princess Marguerite" off the Victoria-Seattle run. The "Queen of Prince Rupert" will replace her but this ship will carry less than 800 people. Mr. Mitchell feels the Social Credit governement has done this to eliminate all "NDP skeletons", as the CHEK reporter puts it. Mr. Mitchell says that local business people will press BC government to add the jetfoil trips to ferry sailings, and to subsidize them.

News item. The "Princess Marguerite" is to start the Victoria-Seattle run on a temporary trial basis for the summer months. Costs will be high, says a spokesman, who is not pleased with the provincial government's lack of communication about it with the Victoria City Council and business people. Documentary. This film depicts a trip from Seattle to Victoria on the S.S. Princess Marguerite, and profiles the history of the ship -- and of her namesake, an earlier B.C. coastal steamship that was sunk during World War II while serving as a troop transport.

Promotional film. Activities of the BC Government Travel Bureau in promoting the B.C. tourist industry, emphasizing the diverse methods used to advertise the province. Includes footage of various B.C. industries, the Minister and Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, the Bureau commissioner and office staff, advertising campaigns, design and printing of colour travel brochures, public correspondence, personal contacts, promoting autombile travel, and brief shots of a car ferry, a coastal steamer, a steam train, and an airliner. Other scenes show the B.C. exhibits at the Golden Gate International Exposition and the Los Angeles Outing Show. Of special interest is a section on filmmaking, which shows Clarence Ferris running a movie camera and splicing film, and a scene of Leon Shelly's film crew shooting the BCGTB-sponsored travelogue BEAUTIFUL BRITISH COLUMBIA.
