The item consists of an audio interview with Gladys Jones recorded in Victoria, B.C. on June 19, 1984.

Tape summary:
Track 1: Gladys Doreen Jones describes the house she lived in on 1121 Collinson Street from 1911 to 1924 when they moved to 1515 Fort Street. Descriptions of what tasks were done by the children, what ;he kitchen pantry and laundry room looked like, what meals were eaten, how food was kept, what was canned, and how her mother did the cooking. How the laundry was done is described. Domestic science at Sir James Douglas School in the mid-1920s is discussed.
Track 2: She talks about the field trips her class took to a pickling works and the Standard Steam Laundry. More detail about her mother's home. Domestic service and home deliveries are discussed. She married in 1935 and set up her own home. Until her marriage she worked as a stenographer and contributed most of her income to her family. Telephone and radio are mentioned.
