History

Einar Maynard Gunderson was a certified accountant and political figure. He was born in 1899 in North Dakota and grew up in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Before embarking on a life in politics he worked at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in Edmonton. In 1952 Gunderson was appointed to the BC Legislature where he represented Similkameen as a member of the Social Credit Party. He was also appointed as Finance Minister; however, lost his seat when he ran for re-election the following year. Gunderson continued to serve as financial advisor to Premier W.A.C. Bennett.

Einar Gunderson also held the positions of Vice President of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, and as Director of the British Columbia Toll Bridge and Highways Authority. He was a member of the Board of Governors at the University of British Columbia, and also served on the Board of Directors at BC Hydro.

He died in Vancouver in 1980.
