This series consists of three volumes of Richfield Magistrate's record books. Volumes are a charge and sentence book, 1862-1874; charge and sentence book, 1974-1978, containing licencing records kept by the court registry, 1878-1907; and a notebook, 1887-1914, recording Magistrate's court cases at Richfield, Small Debts Court cases at Richfield and some cases at Soda Creek and Quesnel.

This series consists of Richfield Supreme Court proceedings, 1881-1904, and 1881-1911.

The series consists of original decrees nisi, decrees absolute, divorce orders, and a judgement created between 1974 and 1998 by the Richmond Supreme Court registry. Between 1968 and 1985, a judgement by way of decree nisi required a three-month waiting period before a judgement by way of decree absolute could be applied for. During this time, a divorce was not legally in effect without a decree absolute. After 1985, divorce orders automatically came into effect 31 days after the divorce was granted, barring an appeal.

The records are separated into decrees nisi, decrees absolute, and orders and then arranged by volume and folio numbers, as assigned by the Court Registry. The series also includes a single judgement from 1975. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51440-25.

This series contains a road log for the Alaska Highway issued by the office of the Special Commissioner for Defence Projects in North West Canada.

The series consists of letter book copies of outward correspondence and cash book entries written by William George Cox, Gold Commissioner, Rock Creek, June 1861 - Nov. 1862 (and Jan. 26 and March 4, 1863).

This volume was created by WG Cox, Police Magistrate and Gold Commissioner of Rock Creek in 1861. The ledger lists all of the furniture, fixtures, supplies and other items located at the Rock Creek government office and their "fate" - possibly where some items were moved to when the office closed around 1863.

This series consists of range management records from the Rocky Mountain Forest District for the years 1940-2008. This series may also include records created by the Cranbrook, Kootenay Lake and Invermere Forest Districts, as well as the Nelson and Southern Interior Forest Regions. Note that the names and boundaries of districts and regions varied over the years.

Records relate to the administration of Grazing Licences and Grazing Permits as defined under the Range Act, and Grazing Leases as defined under the Land Act. This includes their issuance, amendment, transfer, billing, monitoring, policy, and administration. This may include records concerning additions and deletions of land and/or authorized Animal Unit Months (AUM) from grazing tenures. There are also a few range tenure appeal files.

Each grazing permit and licence file relates to a particular range tenure. Note that there may be additional individuals or companies who held the tenure over time which are not listed in the file title. Files within each box are arranged alphabetically by file title.

The series also includes individual range unit files which relate to the management of larger range units. These are areas of range land that may be shared by multiple tenure holders. This includes operational records such as range unit plans, inspections covering more than one range tenure, and general information concerning the history of the management of specific range units. This includes a files regarding the impact of the flooding on rage use resulting from the Libby Dam.

Records in this series include tenure application forms, grazing plans, range use plans, correspondence, maps, photos, surveys, reports, records determining range boundaries and use, and information on range improvements and clearing. Improvements can include infrastructure such as fixing mudholes, constructing fences, corrals, trails or gates, range seeding, and improving access to water sources for livestock.

This series includes a wide variety of types of records and subjects. Each record type has been assigned an ORCS number of the Ministry of Forests records schedule (number 881261). The following types of records are included in this series:

Integrated resource planning guidelines. They include specific guidelines, and records used in their development, for particular geographic areas or watersheds. Records include photos, maps, aerial photos, lake classification information, lake characteristics and uses, lake management guidelines and correspondence. ORCS 12210-30.

Other resource management records relate to the development of Integrated Resource Use Plans which are designed to resolve resource use conflicts in specific areas at the local level. Includes records relating to data concerning a specific area - usually a watershed or other distinct resource management unit. Types of Local Integrated Resource Use Plans include: Local Resource Use Plans (LRUP) and Coordinated Resource Management Plans (CRMP), coordinated access management plans, and integrated watershed management plans. Files address issues such as the construction of infrastructure, land management and various kinds of land use in the areas, particularly managing grazing land. Records include maps, correspondence, range improvement records, range inspection reports, range management plans, meeting minutes, final plans, and the review of plans. Plans cover various areas in the Kootenay and Rocky Mountain area, including the Libby Dam. ORCS 12600-20, 12600-25, 12600-30, 12600-40, and 12600-60.

Forest planning public meeting files relate to public involvement in the process of planning for the future uses of Provincial Forest resources. ORCS 12080-20.

Range program management records relating to co-operation and liaison with other ministries in the BC Government and with the federal government; most regarding the 1977 agriculture and rural development subsidiary agreement. ORCS 15120-25 and 15120-55.

There are also files on a variety of miscellaneous topics, most of which only contain one or two files. These include: Forest Service projects with old trail improvement progress reports, damages to roads, district program management files, regional resource planning files, Integrated Watershed Management Plans (WMP), integrated weed plan, riparian guidelines recreation system plans, water survey of Canada, recreation maps, a forest planning study related to the Rocky Mountain trench, a research study on range use interactions between livestock and wildlife, information on guide outfitters, archaeological sites maps, and other local resource plans. This series consists of timber tenures from the Rocky Mountain Forest District for the years 1946-2008. This series may also include records created by the Cranbrook, Invermere and Kootenay Lake Forest Districts, as well as the Nelson and Southern Interior Forest Regions. Note that the names and boundaries of districts and regions varied over the years.

Timber tenures include replaceable forest licences, licences to cut, replaceable timber sale licences, non-replaceable timber sale licences, woodlot licences, special use permits and Christmas tree permits. There are also records regarding tree farm licence (TFL) 13, TFL 14, TFL 26, TFL 36 and TFL 37.

Files contain cutting permits, legal documents, operations information, charts, applications, development plans, annual reports, management plans, an “A” number bid deposit register, correspondence, maps, reports, amendments, logging inspection reports, logging plans, licences, policy, procedures, and a variety of other documents.

The series also includes some records related to silviculture. These include silviculture openings, obligations, as well as silviculture experiment (SX) files regard trials completed under the jurisdiction of the silviculture program. Includes records detailing silviculture trials conducted, working plans, results, evaluations, reports, models, maps and data. Silviculture obligations may relate to major licensees, woodlot licences or the small business program.

This series consists of one volume of a roll of coroners, 1899-1917.

Case files of appeals from criminal convictions; many are from a contravention of the Wartime Prices and Trade regulations.

Civil case files with the exception of probate/estate files (GR-2415) and appeals of criminal convictions (GR-2747) which have been removed from this series and are filed separately.

Judgements. Box 1, file 1 contains a handwritten list giving plaint numbers, the style of cause (up to 50/30), and the documents retained as well as the plaint numbers for files which were approved for destruction.

The series also consists of a judgment in the case of Elizabeth Graham v. A. Folden and Elizabeth Folden (82/1919) that was signed and filed in 1926.

The series consists of plaint and procedure books from the County Court of Rossland from, 1897-1976. There are notes regarding snowfall in the area, 1896-1903, inside the back cover of volume one. Books contain primarily civil matters, including some estate administration, as well as appeals and some criminal matters under the Speedy Trials Act.

Researchers should note that one page from the volume 6 defendant index was missed during microfilming. This page has been scanned and is included at the end of the PDF file list.

Probate orders and other documents relating to estates. Box 1, file 1 contains a handwritten list giving plaint numbers, name of the estate and the name of the documents retained (Orders, Inventory X & Y, Wills) and the information that all documents in files 1/97 to 78/22 with the exception of 108/21 and 25/22 were approved for destruction by OIC no. 1449.

Probate/estate files.

Provincial Police Court record books showing name of prosecutor, name of defendant, nature of the charge, costs, name of arresting officer, name of gaol or lockup, order or conviction, amount of fine, name of presiding magistrate or justice and "remarks", 1919-1935; 1937-1950.

This series consists of cause books from the Supreme Court of Rossland from 1946-1967 and 1974-1978. The books include primarily civil matters, as well as probates, estate administration, divorce, and adoption. May include some criminal cases.

The series consists of probate/estate files probated by the Rossland registry between 1934-2004. Series includes only a few records from 1943-1950 and consists primarily of records from 1951-2004.

The series consists of original wills probated between 1986 and 1998 in the Rossland Supreme Court registry.

The wills are arranged by probate number, which can be found by using the index associated with GR-2254. Not all probate records have an accompanying will. The records were scheduled for full retention under Court Services ORCS (schedule 100152) 51460-30.

This series consists of the records of the Royal Commission Concerning the Preparation and Tendering of Bids Pertaining to the Construction on an Addition to the Campbell River and District General Hospital, 1972-1973. Commission records include correspondence, transcripts of evidence presented at the hearings, exhibits and the report.
