History

The James Bay Athletic Association, the oldest Canadian amateur athletic organization west of Montreal, dates to 1886 when a group of men from Victoria's James Bay district formed a baseball team called the James Bays. The Association's interests expanded to include rugby, track and field, basketball, tennis, wrestling, soccer and ice hockey. The association's rugby team is still active today.
