He describes working conditions, union organizing, industrial unionism versus trade unionism, Seafarers Industrial Union, Federated Seafarers Union, Inland Boatmans Union, Sailors Union of the Pacific, two strikes of 1935 at the Union Steamship Company, battle of Ballantyne Pier (1935), picketing during the strikes, going on relief, inter-union strife, formation of the Canadian Brotherhood of Railway, Transport and General Workers Seaman's Section after a strike at Northland Navigation.
