The records were loaned to the PABC for microfilming by the grandson, John N. McIllree, Victoria, in 1975 and 1987.
Scope and content
The series consists of thirty-six volumes consisting of diaries and note-books by John McIlree, 1874-1913 and one journal and two diaries by his wife, Lily McIllree, 1882-1892.
Items with a volume number were loaned in 1975 for microfilming; items without a volume number were loaned in 1987 for microfilming. Some of the diaries/daily journals loaned in 1987 appear to be either the original or duplicate diaries kept as backup copies. For example, the 1881 calendar year diary/daily journals (A00530, Vol. 6, and A00997(3), 1881) contain identical content, but are recorded in different handwritings and in different physical volumes.
