Archivist’s Note: The date of the establishment of the County Court at Grand Forks has not yet been confirmed by BC Archives staff (as of March 2016).
In 1897 the BC Government appointed a Deputy Registrar of the County Court of Yale, at Grand Forks. [Source: BC Gazette, September 30, 1897, p. 3124].
In 1965, by Order-in-Council 1502-1965, effective July 1, 1965, a registry of the County Court of Kootenay was established at Grand Forks.
All County Courts were merged into the Supreme Court on July 1, 1990.

Biographical history
The British Columbia government established a Supreme Court registry at Grand Forks, known as the Grand Forks Registry, by Order-in-Council #0198-1900, dated April 10, 1900.
On 31 May 2002, Grand Forks court ceased full-time operation and operated as a temporary circuit court of Rossland between June and August 2002. It closed again, but re-opened as a permanent circuit court of Rossland on 5 February 2003. The successor to the Grand Forks Registry is the Rossland Court Registry.
