It shows the free book service of the BC Public Library Commission, serving oil towns, army bases, mining camps and scattered settlements along the Alaska Highway. Shows the library van's annual trip north from Dawson Creek to Whitehorse, Yukon, with a side trip to Atlin. Includes footage of oil and gas drilling and road construction, and of asbestos mining operations at Cassiar.
