No. 3 Mine Coal Creek explosion

The item is a b&w photograph of a mining lamp found during the investigation into the No. 3 Coal Creek Colliery explosion at Fernie in April 1917. The Coal Creek Colliery was owned and operated by the Crow's Nest Pass Coal Company, Limited. The explosion took place on April 5, 1917 and killed all 34 men working at the mine at the time.
