Maynard, Lillian E.
Lillian Elizabeth Maynard was born on April 22, 1884 in Victoria, the daughter of Albert Hatherley and Adelaide Maynard. Her grandparents were Hannah and Richard Maynard, pioneer photographers. Lillian was interested in photography and automobile touring. She died in Colwood on March 1, 1966 at the age of 81.
The custodial history is unknown. This record was found in the Archives visual records mezz. in 2012.
Scope and content
The series consists of a photograph album entitled My Automobile Trips created by Lillian E. Maynard between 1919 and 1926. The album contains 87 black and white prints showing scenes of Victoria and Vancouver Island, people, events and Lillian Maynard's cottage and automobile. Many of these photographs have captions and some are dated. There are four photographs that are reprints of Hannah and Richard Maynard photographs. The album also contains two newspaper stories; one about Lillian Maynard as a driver and photographer and one about the photographic career of Hannah Maynard.
The album is missing its back cover.
