This series consists of records of the District Horticulturist, Penticton for the years 1952-1973. Records include correspondence, memoranda, reports, and data collected during 1964 orchard survey. Files for the years 1953, 1955 and 1971 are missing. The correspondence, reports and memoranda include correspondence with central office in Victoria, general correspondence filed alphabetically, and monthly reports. Box 4 contains data collected during a survey of orchards in 1964 in Penticton, Kaleden and Okanagan Falls.

Most of the ski footage was shot in the Rockies, but there are also brief shots of Mount Whistler and an Okanagan ski slope.

W.E. Walker interview

The item is an audio recording of an interview with W.E. Walker. Walker was a fireman on the "S.S. Sicamous", sailing out of Penticton from 1928-1931. He discusses the nature of his job, the lifestyle of the crew, daily stops and cargo carried. His narration is interesting and often amusing. He also describes his working experiences after 1931 which were varied and unrelated to the "S.S. Sicamous".

Includes planning and surveys; opening of contractors' bids by Highways Minister Gaglardi; clearing of route by heavy equipment; culvert assembly; drilling and blasting rock; road bed preparation; paving. Traffic control and overpass construction are also discussed. Sections of Highways 1 and 1A are shown, and Premier W.A.C. Bennett presides at an official opening.

There is also footage showing logging operations, presumably on Vancouver Island.

Jim Duddle was born in Vancouver on June 16, 1914 and moved to Vernon at age 1. Together, Eldon and Jim built a Northrop Glider in 1931 and a Corb;en Ace in 1935. At the time of the interview Eldon was still flying. The Tape features a discussion of their activities in their glider and Corben Ace in the Okanagan during the 1930s.;

The item is a composite print of an industrial film from 1958 depicting fruit-growing in the Okanagan Valley. There are scenes of apple orchard preparation, irrigation, pruning, spraying, blossom-time and picking are followed by scenes showing packing-house operations and the production of apple juice at Sun-Rype Products Ltd. There is a lengthy sequence on the annual Kelowna Regatta: diving and swimming events at the Aquatic Pool, speedboat races, water skiing and the Regatta parade. There are also brief scenes at the dispatching office of BC Tree Fruits and at the Agricultural Experimental Farm in Summerland (bud grafting experiments).
