Scope and content
The series consists of oral history interviews focusing on the European settlement and development of British Columbia, mainly covering the period 1880-1914, recorded all over the province by broadcaster Imbert Orchard. The series also includes field recordings of natural and man-made sounds, as well as some example of indigenous and folk music.
Immediate source of acquisition
Received from Imbert Orchard, 1974-1975 and 1984-1985.
Most of the material received in 1974-1975 was first accessioned at the item level (under individual call numbers), and only afterwards drawn together on paper -- in the collection documentation file, call nuber T4103 -- as a series under the Imbert Orchard fonds. Material received in the 1980s was accessioned under T4222 and T4255 and treated as an accrual.
