The personal archives document the span of Dr. Halpern's life beginning with her school years in Vienna and ending with her professional life as a music scholar in Vancouver. The records are in a large variety of textual genres including her school books from Vienna, correspondence from all periods of her life, lecture and research notes from her work on the West Coast of British Columbia, music programmes and papers representing 47 years of involvement in the Vancouver music community and the international music world. In addition to her work as a scholar, the records also document her activities as an newspaper columnist, public speaker, and patron of the arts. There is also a considerable amount of ephemera covering all periods of her life.
