Custodial history

Scope and content

The series consists of radio programs produced for B.C. schools and broadcast over the CBC's Pacific network. "BC School Broadcast" was a series of educational radio programs designed to supplement existing school curriculum. The majority of school broadcasts were organized and administered at the provincial level between the Department of Education and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The series went on the air in March 1938 as a twice-weekly program that later expanded to daily broadcasts. The BC School Broadcasts continued until 1980.

The series includes 38 episodes from 1940-1949 (mainly on audio disc), with the balance of the programs dating from 1950-1980. The series also contains the Education Department's one-page description sheets for each of the broadcast series/sub-series/programs on audio reels in the T4022 accession.
