The bush and the salon : She'll be comin' 'round the mountain -- or will she?

SUMMARY: "The Bush and the Salon" was a CBC radio series that recreated early Canadian life from letters, diaries and other sources. This episode, "She'll Be Comin' Around the Mountain - Or Will She?", recount;s two stories of yesteryear -- true tales of miners, gentlemen and other hard cases of the pioneer days in BC, as told by the distinguished poet and playwright George Ryga, with Ed McNamara as The Chronicler. Part 1, "I, Robert Tecumseh Lowery", takes place around 1892 in the Slocan region of BC, and features R.T. Lowery, the well-known pioneer newspaperman of the Kootenays. Part 2, "The Noble Five", tells the true tale of five prospectors in Ainsworth -- Jack Seton, Bill Hennessey, John Hennessey, Frank Flint, and Jack McQuiglin -- who find a lode of silver, thus creating the notion of the ;"Silvery Slocan". Other actors include Jack Anthony, Lillian Carlson, Michael Collins, Joseph Golland, Douglas Masters, Allen Lyselles, Robert Clothier, Ted Stidder, Blair Shackels, Joe Austin, Bill ;Reiter, and Roger Dressler. This is the first of three programs featuring the work of George Ryga.;
