Series consists of records made or received by the Public Documents Committee. These records document the management and disposition of records by the BC Government in accordance with the Document Disposal Act.
The series consists primarily of correspondence but it also contains other documents intermingled in the files. These include meeting minutes and agendas, policy and procedures, reports, and applications and recommendations for the disposal or retention of government records.
The series contains a large number of records created before the establishment of the Public Documents Committee in 1953. Most of these records were created by the Select Standing Committee of the House on Printing which was originally responsible for these functions between 1936 and 1953.
