Criminal case files, 1941, 1942 and 1947 (3 files).

This series consists of records related to land use, management and alienation in the Nelson, Revelstoke and Kootenay land districts. The records date from 1892-1980. Records include certificates of purchase and various land registers.

There are two survey systems used in the land registers: the district lot system and the township section system. Registers may also be arranged by plan number. The registers record the alienation of land from the Crown by purchase, pre-emption, lease, mineral claims, timber use, etc. Information may include the name of the purchaser, dates and numbers of certificates issued (including Crown Grants), dates and amounts of payments, and reference numbers to correspondence files and field books.

The series also includes several paper subject files and correspondence files with settlers discussing the pre-emption, lease and purchase of specific parcels of land with Government Agents in Nelson, Kaslo and Revelstoke. Most of these files have "O" file numbers assigned to them.

Series consists of one bench book in the hand of Stipendiary Magistrate Winfield Maxwell. Entries are primarily from the Revelstoke Small Debts Court (1938-1945), but also from the Revelstoke Magistrate's Court, the Revelstoke Police Court (1940 and 1942), and Revelstoke Juvenile Court (1944-1945).

Series consists of one Revelstoke County Court civil and criminal minute book for 1923-1938. The volume starts again from the back with Revelstoke Supreme Court minutes from 12 Jun 1924 (Forbes vs. Waverly Mill Co.) and 25 Nov 1925 (Rex vs. Corano). Beginning on page 305 there are minutes from the November 1926 assize (Rex. vs. Scales and Murphy) and a subsequent June assize (no year given).

Series consists of one Revelstoke Provincial Court record book for 1945-1956. Provincial Court record books may include the following information: date of proceedings, name of defendant, charge, plea, names of witnesses, remarks, disposition, particulars, and notations regarding payment of fines, and/or fees.

The series contains a copy of a thesis by William Bilsland called "A history of Revelstoke and the Big Bend." 1955. v, 241 leaves: maps, tables. Thesis (M.A.), University of British Columbia, 1955. Bibliography: leaves 235-249.

Also included in this series is an unpublished, typescript draft (2 copies) of an earlier (1952) history of Revelstoke prepared by the author for publication by the Department of Education in the British Columbia Heritage Series.

Series consists of one Revelstoke County Court record book for cases heard in Donald, Nelson, and Revelstoke under the Speedy Trials Act in 1892-1893. Record books may include the following information: names of witnesses, lists of exhibits, judgment rendered, times of activities, name of judge, name of solicitors, and date of activities.

Series consists of one Revelstoke Supreme Court minute book for civil and criminal cases between 1927-1940. Minute books document proceedings in legal cases and typically list when events occurred during an action, the names of witnesses, and exhibits.

Series consists of a cause book from the Revelstoke County Court for 1902-1926. Cause books provide the framework for court cases and may include the names of parties, the dates when proceedings occurred, and can be used to determine volume and folio numbers for locating final orders. Entries relate to proceedings under the Creditor's Relief Act.

Adoption files.

The series consists of records created by the Revelstoke Gold Commissioner between 1891 and 1930. It includes certificates of work and records of mineral claims and transfers.

The series consists of correspondence from the office of the Government Agent, Revelstoke, B.C. from 1890 to 1916, with some gaps. The majority of the records are letter press copies of the Agent's outgoing correspondence in 18 volumes. Each volume is indexed and contains a mixture of typed and handwritten letters out. The letters cover all matters dealt with by the Government Agent, including land pre-emptions and purchases, timber rights, taxes and other issues.

The series also includes a few other records created or received by the Revelstoke Government Agent's office. This includes correspondence, petitions, water notices and mineral claim certificates of improvement.

The series consists of civil court orders issued by the Revelstoke Supreme Court and the County Court of Yale between 1953 and 1995. Orders are a formal expression of the court’s will, and orders in this series cover a variety of civil issues, including adoptions, foreclosures, family maintenance, divorce, letters of administration, consent orders, and will disputes.

The records arrived at the Archives in shannon folders, and were placed in acid-free folders. Researchers should note that Revelstoke appears to have restarted numbering volumes from 1 at the beginning of each year, with the result that there are multiple volume 1s. Researchers should use the volume and folio numbers in conjunction with the year of the order they are looking for.

Indexes to lien notes and conditional sales. Volume 1: 1901-1936; volume 2: 1928-1940. These are partial indexes to GR-2703 and are of limited use as the entries are often undated.

Registrar's record book of the Revelstoke County Court from 1939-1967. Primarily it is in the hand of the Registrar of the County Court/Clerk of the Court. It includes civil, chambers and two appeals, one in 1948 and one in 1959. There is one entry from the Revelstoke District Police Court in 1941. In mid-1963, Judge Eric P. Dawson has used-this volume as a bench book, signing his name at the end of each case. There are occasional Supreme Court entries from 1941-1952; some are stroked out with the notation : "Notes transferred to assize notebook" [GR-2194].

Bench books of the Revelstoke District Police Court and the Revelstoke Police Court in the hand of W. Maxwell (Stipendiary Magistrate) [with entries by J. Lee (Stipendiary Magistrate) in July 1929 and July 1930 and in 1947 there is a Juvenile Court note in an unknown hand]. There are also entries from Magistrate's Court (Malakwa), 1927; Police Court at Malakwa, 1927, Police Court at Sicamous, 1928, Police Court at Arrowhead, 1928 and 1931 and Juvenile Court, 1934, 1938-1941, and 1947.

The item is a reel of unedited film footage in three sections. The first (slated 13-Nov-1958) shows the city of Revelstoke and the early phases of bridge construction. The second (slated 16-Dec-1958) shows construction work inside the Sailors Bar tunnel. The third (slated 19-Jan-1959) shows the installation of a piece of electrical equipment at the Deas Island tunnel.
