Out-takes. The destruction of Ripple Rock, a long-time menace to shipping in Seymour Narrows, by the world's largest non-nuclear explosion. Footage includes animated diagrams of the project; preparatory tests with models; underwater tunnelling and drilling operations; the shipment and placing of explosives; aerial and general views of the Narrows, and the various technical preparations for the explosion, as well as the blast and its results.

General note

According to his list of productions, Parry documented the project for Dupont (the manufacturer of the explosives used) under at least three titles: DEVIL BENEATH THE SEA, RIPPLE ROCK and CONQUERING RIPPLE ROCK. The precise differences between these three films (or versions) is not known. However, at least the first two films named are represented in the material accessioned here, which includes scenes from all phases of the project. These out-takes comprise about 7,350 feet in total.
