Canadian Pacific Railway (C.P.R.) photographs

Series consists of 545 photographs of the Canadian Pacific Railway (C.P.R.), thought to be taken by Richard or Hannah Maynard. In 1880-1881, Richard Maynard was hired to document the construction of the C.P.R. but photos within this series may have been taken at later dates or by other photographers. Images depict trains ("rolling stock"); views of locations along the construction route, including rivers, bridges, and mountains; tracks and construction in progress; wrecks following accidents; snowsheds; and portraits of workers.

Specifically, the video deals with the spruce budworm, a moth larvae, and whether chemical sprays should be used on trees in the Fraser Valley. SUMMARY: This program describes two journeys down the Fraser Canyon. The first account is Simon Fraser's journey of 1808, and includes his dealings with the Indians en route. The second is a modern trip through Hell's Gate, in -- or out of -- a rubber raft. Voices heard include: Annie York, Reynold Orchard, and Phil Long. Simon Fraser's account is read by Doug Campbell.
