The item consists of an illustrated description of a journey made by automobile from Calgary to Victoria via Spokane and Seattle. Contains photographs and postcards glued into the volume. While it is described as being by "the undersigned", there is no signature and the description of the trip breaks off abruptly on page 41.

The item consists of one album containing five titled and dated sections of photographs:
“A trip to the continent March-April 1900,” includes views of France and Italy. Large photographs were likely purchased during travels and include a number and the name of a photographer’s studio. There is pressed plant material “From Hadrian’s Villa” on page 3.
“Port Townsend Cruise (in “Dorothy”) July 1900” includes views of various sailing vessels, many are identified.
“Cruise to Nanoose Bay (in “Dorothy”), Sept 1902” includes photographs of house exteriors, sailing vessels, and unidentified women and men.
“Duck shooting expedition to Douglas Lake (via Kamloops), October 1903” includes outdoor group portraits of identified men and one woman, building exteriors, and transportation by horse and boat.
“A trip to Cassiar, 22nd Aug. to 2nd Oct 1904” includes views of landscapes, river boats, outdoor group portraits of partially identified men, and animal trophies. A “Memo of dates” and “Synopsis of hunting tip to Eagle River, 1904” are written on two of the pages. The collection ends with two full-page hunting photographs.
Numerous album pages are unused.
All photographs are captioned in black ink.
“(All photos (except large full plate[s]) taken with Kodak by WHL)” is written in pencil in the top left of the first album page, probably by Archives staff.

She discusses Reverend Francis Wilson, her grandfather; fruit farming; economic life; Dr. Gerald Baker; the private school in Ganges that she attended as a student and where she was later appointed as a teacher; early residents; the Mowat family; the Woods family; farms; Saltspring Island Creamery; Black residents; and the British atmosphere. She also describes her early visits to Victoria, where as a child she watched the horses being harnessed for the fire department; a trip to the San Juan Islands, and a visit to Vancouver during World War One. Mine site, high on mountainside; buildings; small electric train of ore cars; dumping tailings on hillside; dumping ore into aerial tramway; tramway buckets descending very steep hillside to concentrator, and emptying into hopper there.
