Biographical history
Sir Joseph W. Trutch was a West Coast pioneer. He was a civil engineer and contractor, served as a Member of the Vancouver Island House of Assembly, Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works for the Colony of British Columbia, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of B.C. (1871-1876), and Resident Agent of the Dominion Government in B.C. (1879-1889).
